Homeless & Hungry is a 30 hour simulation that asks participants to ‘walk a mile’ in the shoes of the least of these.
Participants fast for 30 hours, sleep in a cardboard box (in the middle of October) outside, take part in service projects/fundraising activities, and more. Those who get involved in the H&H movement invest in the community and get a chance to interact with those whom they are serving.
The H&H event (October 15-16, 2011) is something that all can participate in. It doesn’t matter your age, your limitations, or your past experiences. All that matters is that you have a desire to take part in this simulation and that you dedicate yourself to this movement.
Participants can sign up for the H&H experience at 1 of 25+ host sites throughout the area. Churches/schools/businesses step up as host sites. You will develop a ‘communal’ feel at your host site. Additionally, participants will join up 2 different times with the larger ‘church’ and will come together as a large community to worship, serve, and to break our 30 hour fast.
We will be having a site at Calvary UMC of Kindred ND.
