Where do the donations go?

Every dime that is collected stays in the Fargo Moorhead community.

All of the donations we collect are distributed to the people of the Metro and the agencies that support them.

In regard to financial donations, the shelters of the FM area receive 80% of our donations.

  • Traditionally, we will give a an initial gift of $8,000-$30,000/year to each shelter (depending on the money raised through that year’s movement). These initial donations are equal between all shelters.
  • The shelters we support are: Churches United for the Homeless, The Dorothy Day House, The YWCA, The New Life Center, The Gladys Ray Shelter, Stepping Stones Resource Center, & Youthworks.
  • The remaining funds (in the 80% of our monies raised) are distributed according to the # of beds each shelter has. More beds = a larger donation from Homeless & Hungry.

The remaining 20% of the funds Homeless & Hungry collects will make its way to the following outreach facilities:

  • Project Hart
  • Central Cities Ministries
  • The Salvation Army
  • FM Coalition for Homeless Persons
  • Homeless Health Services
  • Sharehouse
  • Great Plains Food Bank
  • FM Emergency Food Pantry
