Fundraising is a very important element of the Homeless & Hungry movement. It can provide immediate relief and aid for those who really need it. It also helps keep the participants make a full commitment to the event.
Don’t raise money for a generic cause. Imagine that you’re raising money for perhaps a single mom with 2 kids – who has fled an abusive relationship. Imagine that you’re raising money for a war veteran who is struggling from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Imagine you’re raising money for your brother or sister in Christ…
We are asking each participant to raise at least $365. Why $365? Because it is said that you can feed a person for $1/day with the help of the shelters, and we would love to have each participant raise enough money to feed a person for at least a year.
So, how do you raise at least $365? Easy! Talk to family members, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and everyone in-between. Share with them our goals and then ask them if they are willing to sponsor a a person for a month. This means that $30 feeds someone for a month – get 12 or so donations on that level and you have your $365!
Some might want to sponsor for more – some might want to sponsor for less. All levels of sponsorship are more than welcomed. Even a dollar makes a difference. Every penny helps.
